Panaji: If all goes well, Tamil superstar Rajnikant is all set to be part of a French film — or at least his kung-fu skills.
French filmmaker Alain Chabat wanted a small filler for a fight sequence in his comedy Rent a Wife which is slated for a 2006 release.
His eye fell on a martial arts sequence in Rajnikant’s Tamil film Muthu (1995) and he immediately decided to use it, a French official told PTI in Panaji on Tuesday.
"A ten-second kung-fu clip from Rajnikants film Muthu will be used in the movie which is currently under production," Etienne Dubaille, an official in Chabat’s Chezwam company said.
The film had already created waves when it was released in Japan in 1998 making the Tamil superstar a household name in the island nation.
Meanwhile, Chabat and supermodel Noemie Lenoir are expected to be here for the premiere of his French blockbuster Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra at the International Film Festival of India in Panaji on Friday.
However, Dubaille confirmed that Chabat would not be a part of the next film in the Asterix series, in which a special character has been reportedly created to include Bollywood superstar Aishwarya Rai.

After Chandramukhi, Rajini has accepted the offer to act in the Jayam fame ‘Editor’ Mohan’s movie. As Rajini usually plan’s around only three movies a year, many kollywood directors are striving to get a suitable story for him, so that they may get a chance to do their film with the Super Star.The first among these directors’ is director cum actor S J Surya, who is already ready with a suitable story, exclusively tailor made for the Super Star. The story has been named 20-40-60 by S J Surya.According to the story line, Rajini stars in triple roles and pairs along two heroines in the film. The story line for the film is also said to move along in a rapid pace such as Rajini’s previous ventures like Muthu and Basha.
As the script for the story is also ready at hand, Surya is looking forward for an appointment with the Super Star.
